About this club

Offaly Rowing Club is based at Lock 23 on the Grand Canal, on the Ballycommon side of Digby Bridge in Tullamore. Its contact address is Cappincur, Tullamore, County Offaly, R35 X3W2.

The club was established by Frank Durkin and affiliated to Rowing Ireland in 1985. It first operated at Thomas' Lock before moving to the present Lock 23 boathouse in 1993.

Offaly reports 47 national titles and athletes who have represented Ireland. The club also says that parents, former members and other adults have joined its competitive and recreational rowing groups in recent years.

Junior and adult members can train, compete or row recreationally, and trial membership is available. In 2025 the club had rowers from age 13 upwards training four times each week.

The annual Tullamore Time Trials are the club's main event. The 2025 edition ran age-group races from under-13 through senior and masters, and added double sculls and coxless pairs to a programme historically centred on singles.

Offaly celebrated its 40th year in 2025 after winning gold medals at events in Dublin, Limerick and Leitrim. The club also recorded category wins when it hosted the Tullamore Time Trials that September.
