Bann Rowing Club is based at Hanover Place on the east bank of the Lower Bann in Coleraine. The club uses 1842 as its foundation year, although its own history records a newspaper report of the newly formed club holding a regatta in September 1841.

Bann was a founding member of the Irish Amateur Rowing Association in 1883. After that body faded, the club helped establish the Irish Amateur Rowing Union in 1899, the organisation now known as Rowing Ireland.

The first boathouse at Hanover Place was erected in 1864 and destroyed by fire two months later. A replacement was enlarged in 1881, and the present clubhouse was built in 1900 to plans by Coleraine town surveyor William James Given.

The club caters for rowers of all ages and abilities. It runs junior introduction programmes in late spring and early summer, while adults can enquire about starting throughout the year; Rowing Ireland continues to list Bann as an affiliated river club.

Bann's international alumni include 2012 Olympic medallists Alan Campbell, Richard Chambers and Peter Chambers, and Paris 2024 Olympic champion Hannah Scott. The club also won Henley Royal Regatta's Hambleden Pairs Challenge Cup in 2018.
