Modern rowing club management software built in the UK and launched commercially in 2025. Covers session scheduling, boat booking, crew lineups, member portal, regatta and event management, and admin reporting in a single web platform. In production at Oundle Town Rowing Club since 2025. The only product in this comparison with dedicated regional sites and local pricing for the UK, US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Ireland.

Long-running UK rowing club software at rowter.co.uk. Started as GIGRota - conceived by the chairman of Swanage Sea Rowing Club and built by developers JXWD - and later rebranded to ROWter. Covers boat sign-out, availability, groups, event management and built-in messaging, with gig-specific extras like CPGA stats downloads. Strong installed base in gig and coastal rowing clubs.
Strengths. Mature product with years of on-the-water testing and a strong UK gig-rowing customer base. Pricing is published and deliberately low: a free 3-month trial, then GBP 5/month if you add a ROWter link to your club website or GBP 10/month without, which they say they will hold for at least five years.
Weaknesses. The interface reflects its age - it launched in 2018 and looks it. Web-only, with a functional but dated mobile experience and no native app. It is a focused gig and coastal tool (CPGA stats) rather than a broad British Rowing affiliation platform.
Best for. Gig rowing clubs, coastal rowing organisations, and UK clubs that value stability and low cost over a modern interface. ROWter is the pick if you want proven over new.

A rowing-built club management platform at icrew.club - "designed and built by rowers, for rowers." Strongest in US college and competitive rowing, but international in reach: it reports around 190 active clubs across 9 countries, with notable Canadian and Australian junior-rowing use. Covers athlete management, line-ups, boat scheduling, ergo and test results, and regatta entries, and imports USRowing membership and waiver status. Also supports outrigger canoe and dragon boat clubs.
Strengths. Deep feature set for competitive rowing; USRowing membership and waiver import on both the Standard and Premium tiers; native iOS and Android apps; a large installed base in US college programmes alongside a genuine international footprint. Pricing is published openly.
Weaknesses. Feature design is US-competitive-first, so some UK and community-club workflows are secondary. Per-member pricing carries a USD 59 one-time onboarding fee and a per-transaction charge when collecting payments, and there is no permanent free tier - only a free trial.

Pricing is published openly: a permanent Free tier for up to 50 members, a Custom tier from GBP 1 per member per year, and a Premium tier at GBP 5 per member per year. Competes with Row HQ and ROWter in the UK.
Strengths. Genuinely rowing-native - a dedicated crew line-up tool, an on-the-water logbook, boat inventory, and Concept2 ergo and Strava integrations. UK-built with GDPR handling and iOS/Android device support, and pricing is transparent rather than demo-gated.
Weaknesses. UK-focused, with no dedicated regional pricing or content for clubs spread across several countries - that is Row HQ's niche. The Custom tier is priced per feature, so the cost rises as a club adds modules, and FitClub is a smaller operation than the large US incumbents.
Best for. UK rowing clubs that want a rowing-specific platform with strong member management, payments and boat booking at a low per-member cost, and are happy on a single-country tool.

Weaknesses. UI feels older than modern alternatives. Logbook focus means some broader admin features are lighter than full club management tools.

Rowing Planner
Coach-focused rowing programme software at rowingplanner.com. Covers training calendar, squads, boat allocations, and athlete profiles - designed for the coach side of the operation, not full club administration.
Strengths. Strong coach-side feature set; training programme planning is genuinely well-designed; good athlete profile depth for performance squads.
Weaknesses. Not a full club management system. Membership, finance, and committee admin features are limited. No public pricing.

Strengths. Genuinely simple; members log in with Google, Microsoft, or Facebook and book boats in seconds; cleanest mobile experience on this list.
Weaknesses. Boat booking is the only feature. No session attendance, no member portal, no events. No public pricing page.
Best for. Clubs whose only meaningful friction is boat booking and who already have other tools for everything else.
CrewLAB
US platform at crewlab.io covering coaching, team communication, registration and payments across rowing, swimming and running. Its footprint is heavily American collegiate - Princeton, Harvard, Michigan, USC and Dartmouth all appear on its site, alongside US Rowing and Rowing New Zealand. The coaching tools came first; the club administration layer is the newer half of the product.
Strengths. Native iOS and Android apps rather than a responsive site; a genuinely free entry tier; Stripe payments covering card, ACH and Apple Pay; SafeSport and MAAPP-compliant message moderation for junior squads; and public pricing, which most of this list still will not publish. Free, Pro at USD 200 per team per month, Ultra from USD 500 per month.
Weaknesses. Billing is per team in US dollars, so a club running four squads pays four times over - an order of magnitude above the UK options here. The free tier only exposes the last 30 days of data, which rules it out for season-over-season comparison. Club payments, registration and waivers sit on the Ultra tier rather than the middle one. Safeguarding is built around the US SafeSport and MAAPP frameworks, not British Rowing, and CrewLAB's own comparison page lists federation integrations as still on the roadmap.
Best for. University and school programmes with a coaching-first budget, especially those with American links. Hard to justify for a volunteer-run UK club paying in pounds.
For UK clubs: what to look for in 2026
