Furnivall Sculling Club is a competitive and recreational rowing club on the Thames at Hammersmith. Based at 19 Lower Mall, it welcomes adult rowers, scullers and coxes of all ages and abilities, including complete beginners.

Dr Frederick James Furnivall founded Hammersmith Sculling Club for girls in April 1896. The club's history says membership was extended to men in 1901, when the name became Furnivall Sculling Club for Girls and Men; the captaincy nevertheless remained restricted to women during the first half of the twentieth century.

Current members can join men's and women's racing squads, a development squad, a club squad or the coxing group. The development squad serves rowers in the first one or two years of the sport and combines sweep rowing and sculling before members progress according to their ability and commitment.

Furnivall's six-week learn-to-row course requires no previous rowing experience. It combines indoor rowing with coached crew and boat sessions on the Thames, and graduates can apply to the development squad. The club also provides dedicated coaching for new and experienced coxes.

Membership categories include full, student and low-wage concessions, under-23 and recent-graduate concessions, cox, gym and social membership. Experienced prospective members can take trial outings before committing, while out-of-term membership is offered to students based elsewhere during term.

Double Olympic champion Andy Holmes coached Furnivall's women for more than three seasons. Under his coaching, club crews became elite and national coxed-four champions at Henley Women's Regatta, reached the intermediate eights final there and won National Championships bronze in the eight. In 2026, Furnivall's women's quad reached Henley Women's Regatta's quarter-finals, the club's strongest result there for 15 years.
