About this club

Hampton School Boat Club is the rowing club of Hampton School. The boys row on the Molesey stretch of the River Thames from the Millennium Boathouse in Hampton, where the school keeps its fleet and runs a full-time coaching programme.

The club was founded in 1956 and was based at Molesey Boat Club for many years. Its present boathouse opened in 2000 as a joint project with Lady Eleanor Holles School Boat Club. Pupils start by learning to scull in the Third Year, with sweep rowing introduced later and the senior squad supplying the school's first and second eights.

Hampton also runs the Hampton Small Boats Head and the Hampton Fours and Eights Head on a course of about 3,000 metres downstream from Sunbury Lock. The school records former pupils racing in the Boat Race and representing Great Britain and England, including Olympic gold medallists Greg and Jonny Searle.
