Monmouth Rowing Club is based beside the River Wye on Old Dixton Road, close to Monmouth town centre. The club's current branding states that it was founded in 1928, while its About page says the organisation has pursued its present aims since formation in 1929.

The club has more than 100 members and is primarily known as a masters club, while actively encouraging juniors and younger rowers. It caters for both national or regional competitors and people rowing for social participation and fitness.

The Wye provides about 2,500 metres of summer rowing, with longer rowing possible in winter according to the club. Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls and Monmouth Comprehensive School share its boathouse, gym and club room.

Facilities include a rowing tank, eights, fours, quads, pairs, doubles, single sculls, training fours, a weights gym, rowing machines, changing facilities and safety launches. Members race from local events through world masters competition, and the club organises trips to races in several European countries.

New members can complete two trial sessions before confirming full membership. The published membership system offers a range of categories and supports both water and land sessions.
