Tees Rowing Club is based at the River Tees Watersports Centre on The Slipway in Stockton-on-Tees. It rows on up to 14 kilometres of non-tidal water and is affiliated to British Rowing and represented on the Northern Rowing Council.

A newspaper report dated 16 June 1864 recorded the recent formation of Tees Amateur Boat Club in Stockton. The first annual meeting followed in March 1865, when the club had 39 ordinary, three honorary and nine life members, and the first Tees Regatta was held that June.

The club moved to the River Tees Watersports Centre in 2001. It now reports more than 200 members and offers rowing from recreational participation to elite competition, including provision for athletes with physical, sensory or learning impairments using adapted boats, facilities and coaches.

Learn to Row begins with a gym taster and normally continues through six two-hour water sessions. Current activity includes men's and women's squads, juniors and recreational rowers, with water sessions, winter gym work and access to an extensive fleet of eights, fours, quads, doubles and singles.

The club's roll of honour includes Olympic champion Kat Copeland and Paralympic champion Laurence Whiteley. Published results record British titles in junior single sculls in 1981, women's junior single sculls in 2010 and women's quadruple sculls in 2013, followed by the Princess Grace Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in 2015.

Tees hosts its annual multi-lane regatta in May and uses the only multi-lane course in the region. The first edition in 1865 had nine races; the club reported about 440 boats and 130 races in 2026. Its calendar also includes Small Boats Head racing, while Northern Rowing Council runs the Long Distance Sculls in October.
