Tyne United Rowing Club rows on the tidal River Tyne from Newburn Bridge Road on the Gateshead side of the river. The official site describes it as a small club and gives its address as Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, NE15 8NR.

The original Tyne United formed after the Second World War from Empire, Hawthorn, Gateshead and District, Walker and Wallsend rowing clubs. That organisation ceased in the 1960s, and Tyne United Rowing Club was re-established in 2007.

The current programme includes junior, women's and men's squads, daytime rowing and learn-to-row courses for adults and juniors. Membership categories also include full, off-peak, young-person, student-holiday, junior and non-rowing fitness options.

The adult beginner course comprises eight sessions. Its first three sessions use rowing machines and an indoor tank before participants move onto the river with a qualified coach and experienced volunteers; an eight-week development course can follow.

Tyne United runs a New Year's Head with Durham University Boat Club, a Small Boats Head and summer masters sculling camps. Club members also volunteer at rowing events on the Tyne.

The club reports that two of its women's crews finished first and second in the Northern Rowing Council's 2022 Sunday League series. Its course material directs developing rowers towards the same league as an entry point to regular racing.
