About this club

Killurin Rowing Club is based at Killurin Pier on the River Slaney in County Wexford. Rowing Ireland lists it as a current Leinster affiliate for coastal sculling and coastal sweep rowing.

The club has a long-running Slaney Cot programme, although no reliable foundation date was located. A 2007 report describes its annual regatta and the traditional three-mile Heritage Row between Killurin and Ferrycarrig, with men rowing one direction and women returning.

Killurin's regatta programme has included under-12, men's, women's and mixed racing. A 2011 club notice offered separate junior and senior training nights at Killurin Quay and welcomed both experienced rowers and complete novices; a 2015 open evening invited children aged ten and above.

At the 2015 All-Ireland coastal championships in Waterville, Killurin's under-12 boys won bronze in the one-design universal boat and its women's Slaney Cot crew won silver in the heritage race. Mick Carthy Senior also received an ICRF appreciation award for long service to Killurin and Wexford rowing.

Killurin added national silver in the under-18 girls' race at the 2019 Irish Coastal Rowing Championships. Shauna Sinnott, Shaunine McDonald, Aishling Fanning and Ríbh Sexton were coxed by Richard Roche.

The club continues to host a stop in the Slaney regatta series. Rowing Ireland's 2024 coastal calendar listed Killurin's Slaney Cot Regatta, following the revived four-club series in 2022 involving Killurin, Edermine, Ferrycarrig and St Kearns.
