Napier Boys' High School's website promotes the Hawke's Bay Rowing Club novice programme, a learn to row course held at the club on Farndon Road in Clive, on the Clive River.
The Hawke's Bay Rowing Club runs its schools learn to row programme for students in Year 9 and above. Novices who carry on after the course train four days a week through the season, with a short break over Christmas, and race at a number of regattas.
The school enters a rowing team at the Maadi Cup, and in March 2025 its rowers raced at Lake Karapiro during the national secondary schools regatta. The 2025 senior prizegiving included three rowing awards: Elite Performance in Rowing, a cup for contribution to rowing, and Rowing Sportsman of the Year.
