About this club

Aberdeen Schools Rowing Association is a junior rowing club on the River Dee at South Esplanade West, Aberdeen. Founded in 1960, it is affiliated to Scottish Rowing and operates as registered charity SC029743.

ASRA supports junior athletes through structured coaching, a squad system and social rowing. Its fleet covers beginner through international-standard boats, and the club runs learn-to-row opportunities and outreach alongside racing.

The purpose-built boathouse opened in 2001 and was extended in 2015. It has five boat bays, a large land-training hall, social and kitchen space, changing facilities, around 40 Concept2 rowing machines, five Dyno machines and a fleet spanning singles through eights and octuples.

In 2025, seven ASRA athletes represented Scotland at the Home International Regatta. The club also recorded victory in the girls' pair at the GB-France match, British club championship golds in the WJ16 pair and OJ15 double, and three Great Britain junior representatives in 2024, including a World Under-19 women's eight silver medallist.

ASRA also stages and enters racing on its home River Dee. Its results archive records a sweep of all available medals in the first division of the 2023 Aberdeen Eights Head and 28 wins across the two days of the 2023 North East Coronation Regatta.
