Birmingham Rowing Club is based at Edgbaston Reservoir on Reservoir Road in Ladywood. The club was established there in 1873 and remains an active rowing organisation at the reservoir.

Birmingham City Council describes Edgbaston Reservoir as a 70-acre open-water site. It says Thomas Telford built the reservoir in 1827 to maintain the water level in Birmingham's canal system and lists Birmingham Rowing Club among the sports organisations using it.

The club's current programme includes a junior squad and adult novice, intermediate and senior squads. It also offers recreational rowing for members who do not want to compete and learn-to-row courses for newcomers.

The council's reservoir masterplan says the club caters for beginners of all ages, competitive rowers and recreational participants. It also records that the site's facilities are shared with Aston University, Birmingham City University and the University of Birmingham, and are used by the B-Row charity for youth rowing.

Junior and adult crews compete at events around the UK. The club advertises regular races and social activities, and its events page describes an annual regatta normally held in April alongside learn-to-row opportunities.

A secondary history records Birmingham's earliest Henley Royal Regatta victory as a win in the Wyfold Challenge Cup in 1904. The same source describes the club as affiliated to British Rowing and open to men and women across adult, junior and veteran rowing.
