About this club

Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club has rowed on Birkenhead Docks in the Wirral since its foundation in 1884. The club emphasises that, despite Liverpool in its name, it has always been based on the Wirral.

The club welcomes rowers from age 11, with no fixed upper age stated in its current introduction. Juniors can attend sessions before deciding whether to race, while adult beginner courses run regularly without requiring an immediate commitment to membership.

Rowing is available for competitive and recreational members. The fleet ranges from stable recreational shells to fine racing boats and from singles to eights, allowing beginners and established crews to use appropriate equipment.

Training continues throughout the year and the club is active on most days. When crews cannot go afloat, members use a training room containing 15 Concept2 rowing machines and weights.

Liverpool Victoria sends crews to regattas and head races around the country. Its current membership categories include full, junior, student, unwaged and associate membership.

The club runs Merseyside Regatta in spring, an Explorer Regatta for beginners and social rowers, and Head of the Float on the West Float later in the year. The official address is Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club, Wallasey Bridge Road, Birkenhead, CH41 1EB.
