Norwich Rowing Club is based at Whitlingham Boathouses beside the River Yare. It welcomes able-bodied and adaptive rowers from age 14 into their eighties for racing or social rowing.

The present club was created in the early 1970s from Norwich Amateur Rowing Association, Yare Rowing Club and Norwich Union Rowing Club. Its site says the constituent clubs formed Norwich Rowing Club in 1973, while another official page dates their agreement to 1972.

Norwich moved into the current shared boathouse with two school clubs, the University of East Anglia Boat Club and Norwich Canoe Club in 2014. The £1.4 million facility includes a training gym, cafe, social spaces and meeting rooms.

Regular learn-to-row courses use Explore boats designed for beginners and social rowing. Graduates can progress into the Open Novice or Veterans Development squads.

Current membership includes adult, junior, family and student options. The club offers elite, intermediate, junior, learn-to-row, masters and social rowing, with use of club equipment and facilities included in adult and junior membership.

Norwich crews have raced at Henley Royal Regatta, Henley Women's Regatta, the World Rowing Masters Regatta and Head of the Charles. Published honours list British titles in 1991, 1998, 2009 and 2012, while Samantha Redgrave won Olympic silver in 2024.

The club still races for the Carrow Cup, first contested in 1813, shortly before Christmas. It also runs Norwich Head and the Norfolk Long Distance Sculls, which began in 1948 as the country's first long-distance sculling race.
