Southampton Amateur Rowing Club is a coastal rowing club on the east bank of the River Itchen at Woolston. It was formed in 1945 after wartime rowing in the city had been brought together through the Amalgamated Southampton Rowing Clubs.

The club's history says its founders raised £30 for an initial boat. Early bases included Royal Pier and Willbrook Point before activity moved to Itchen Ferry at Woolston. The club affiliated to the Hants and Dorset Amateur Rowing Association and the Amateur Rowing Association.

Southampton entered its first race and won its first championship in 1948. By 1952, the club records three championship wins and nearly 50 prizes. Construction of a new building was close to completion in 1959, with social and changing provision included in the plans.

Today the club takes rowers from beginner and social participation through novice and senior racing. Its membership information describes squad training and winter land work alongside water sessions.

The racing programme centres on coastal regattas around the south coast. Members can progress from learning the sport to competing within the same club structure, while non-racing participation is also available.
