Mendota Rowing Club rows on Lake Mendota from East Gorham Street in Madison, Wisconsin.
The club is straightforward about its water: Lake Mendota is wide, sometimes windy and sometimes busy, which shapes how and when crews get out.
It actively welcomes experienced rowers who are new to the area, and visiting rowers from other programmes, into its adult practices. A month-long trial and guest membership exists for exactly that, and includes use of the club's ergs and weights as well as the water sessions.
For people starting from scratch, winter indoor introductory sessions open for registration in December, designed to build fitness through the off-season and have newcomers ready for on-the-water rowing the following year.
The club states that it does not tolerate discrimination on the basis of race, colour, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin or age.
