Built for US rowing programs, not boat owners

The club management app US rowing programs actually use

Row HQ handles shell reservations, practice scheduling, athlete dues and lineups in one place. Athletes can install the Android app from Google Play or use the same program account in any phone or desktop browser. Coaches and ADs get their own working views.

What is a rowing club management app?

A rowing club management app is a mobile and web platform that runs the day-to-day operations of a rowing program - shell reservations, practice scheduling, crew lineups, roster management, regatta entries, dues collection, and Title IX reporting - from a single login on any device. Athletes reserve shells and confirm practices from their phone. Coaches manage attendance and lineup selection. ADs handle roster, fleet, and finance. Row HQ is purpose-built for that job - NCAA varsity, prep school crew, and community boathouses - replacing the GroupMe threads, Google Sheets, and email chains most programs limp along with. See exactly how that compares to running on spreadsheets.

The app is the mobile side of the Row HQ club platform, so reservations and attendance recorded on a phone appear right away in the admin dashboard.

Who uses the app?

Four views, one program. Athletes, parents, coaches, and ADs each get the screen they need - not a watered-down version of someone else's.

Athletes & Parents

From their phone, athletes (and parents of high school crew) can:

  • Confirm or decline practices in one tap
  • See which shells are free and reserve one
  • Check their lineup for the next practice
  • Read program announcements and trip details
  • Pay dues, regatta fees, and trip costs
Tour the athlete portal

Coaches

From the same app, head and assistant coaches can:

  • See live availability before lineup selection
  • Build and publish V8+, 2V8+, 4+, and novice lineups
  • Take attendance with a single tap per athlete
  • Log erg scores, 2k splits, and training data
  • Push announcements to a boat, squad, or whole program
Tour the coach tools

ADs & Admins

On phone or desktop, the AD or program admin can:

  • Manage roster, sign-ups, and graduating seniors
  • Track shell maintenance, rigging, and damage logs
  • Run regatta entries, travel rosters, and event payments
  • Pull attendance, finance, Title IX and welfare reports
  • Hand the program over cleanly each season

A real club management app, not a workaround

Most programs cobble together three or four tools that nearly work. Row HQ is one app, designed for rowing operations from the start.

Important distinction. Apps like Concept2, Hydrow, Ergatta, or Kinomap are fitness apps for individual rowers and indoor machines. They do not run a program. Row HQ is the program app. The two sit alongside each other on an athlete's phone, doing different jobs.

A US college program rolls out Row HQ for one season, replaces three separate tools, and never goes back. We work with programs from prep schools and high school crew clubs to D1 boathouses across the East and West coasts.

Rowing club management app FAQs

What is a rowing club management app?
A rowing club management app is a mobile and web platform that handles the day-to-day operations of a rowing program - shell reservations, practice scheduling, crew lineups, roster management, dues collection, and Title IX reporting - from a single login. Row HQ is built specifically for that job - NCAA varsity, prep school crew, and community boathouses - replacing the GroupMe threads, Google Sheets, and email chains most programs use.
How is this different from a Concept2 or Hydrow app?
Concept2 ErgData, Hydrow, Ergatta, and Kinomap are fitness apps - workouts and indoor machines. Row HQ is a program operations app - roster, fleet, scheduling, lineup selection, finance. Different problems, different software. Most athletes have one of each on their phone.
Do athletes need to install anything?
No. Android users can download Row HQ from Google Play, but installation is optional. Athletes can open the program URL in any browser and add it to their home screen. Both routes use the same account and team data.
Will it work for our small program?
Yes. The same architecture serves a 30-rower club program and a 200-rower D1 college boathouse. Programs of up to 20 active athletes are free; above that you pay a flat monthly band by active member count, so smaller programs pay a small fee.
Does it support parent accounts for high school crew?
Yes. Parents of athletes under 18 get a separate parent role with visibility of practices, regattas, trip costs, and direct communication from coaches - without the parent appearing on the athlete roster or interfering with lineup selection.
How long does rollout take?
Setup is roughly four hours. Roster import from your existing list is automatic. Full rollout to athletes is typically a week, staged: coaches first, captains second, full roster in week two. Most programs run a parallel announcement on their existing GroupMe during the first fortnight, then archive it.
Is Row HQ really free?
Yes - free for good for programs of up to 20 active athletes. No credit card, no feature limit. Above 20 athletes you pay a flat monthly band based on active member count, with every feature included on every band.
