Rowing Clubs in Adelaide (21 Clubs)

Scotch College Adelaide first affiliated with rowing in 1926 (the school marked 100 years of rowing in 2026). The Cardinal Club and Old Collegians community rowing program supports Old Scotch Collegians, parents and friends to row socially and competitively at West Lakes.

Established 1877, PARC is the oldest operating rowing club in South Australia, with many kilometres of tidal water on the Port River estuary shared with dolphins, stingrays and container ships.

Founded 1881 and one of the oldest university boat clubs in Australia. Boats from the Barr Smith Boathouse (donated 1909) on the Torrens and a second shed at West Lakes; alumni include Olympic medallists Kate Slatter and Amber Halliday.

Founded 1882 as I'Zingari Rowing Club and renamed Adelaide Rowing Club in 1885. ARC's two-storey clubhouse overlooks Elder Park; the club is South Australia's largest with 150+ members across club, U21, masters and high-performance squads.

Rowing began at PAC on 18 December 1882, the year the Torrens Lake weir was completed. The annual Blackmore Shield against St Peter's College, first raced in 1893, is the oldest schools rowing trophy in SA.

St Peter's College ("Saints") first raced Prince Alfred College on the Port River in 1893 and challenged Adelaide High to the first Head of the River in 1922. Rowing camps run from the school's Finniss outdoor education campus near Lake Alexandrina.

Founded 6 February 1903 at a meeting in the Norfolk Arms Hotel as the Torrens Boating Club. Around 150 members from teens to over-eighties, and the first SA club to offer coaching for adaptive (Para) rowing.

Scotch College Adelaide first affiliated with the Adelaide Rowing Association in 1926 and raced its First VIII at Henley-on-Torrens in 1927. Girls' rowing began at Scotch in 1978; the school celebrated a rowing centenary in 2026.

Founded 1943 as the South Australian Railways Institute Rowing Club, becoming Riverside Rowing Club in 1994. Strong masters focus (27+) with sheds at both the Torrens and West Lakes; hosts open Learn to Row programmes.

Rowing has been on Pulteney's co-curricular program since 1960; the school first entered the SA Head of the River in 1961 and won the boys' First VIII outright in 1977 - the only state high-school crew to do so.

Entered the SA Schools Head of the River as King's College in 1961, becoming Pembroke School in 1974 after the merger of King's and Girton Girls' School. Strong co-ed program with a dedicated Pembroke Masters alumni club.

CBC Adelaide entered the SA Head of the River in 1961 and won the boys' First VIII in 1980. The school owns two boatsheds: one on the Torrens behind the University of Adelaide and a Semaphore Park West Lakes shed jointly run with Scotch College and Prince Alfred College.

Wilderness made its SA Head of the River debut in 1987 and finished second in the Girls' First Four in that same season. Now competes across all girls' age groups at the SA Schools Head of the River regatta.

Walford joined the SA Head of the River in 1989 and has won the Florence Eaton Cup (Schoolgirl 1st VIII) a record 19 times - more than any other SA girls' school. Trains from the Walford Boat Shed at West Lakes.

Seymour entered the SA Schools Head of the River in 2006 with foundation coaching support from Adelaide Rowing Club, and sends senior crews to the Australian Rowing Championships at Lake Barrington each year.

Loreto entered the SA Head of the River for the first time in 2012 and has since produced multiple winning age-group crews and a regular First Eight finalist. Competes nationally at the Rowing Australia School Championships.

Saint Ignatius' College entered the SA Schools Head of the River for the first time in 2013 as part of its Senior School co-curricular sport program. Rowing now runs through the College's High Performance Athlete Program at the Athelstone senior campus.

Saints Girls entered the SA Schools Head of the River in 2013 and won an unprecedented clean sweep of five categories at the 2020 State Championships (including U19 and Schoolgirl Eights). Annual January training camp runs from Mannum on the Murray.

Established 2014 in the northern suburb of Mawson Lakes, rowing on a 450m course on Sir Douglas Mawson Lake. Runs a three-month Learn to Row program for ages 10+ and the community Splash and Dash Regatta.

Masters club closely linked to Pembroke School rowing alumni; competes in Rowing SA regattas and combines with Pembroke School and Phoenix for composite crews at state and national masters events.

Masters rowing club based at West Lakes; a regular composite-crew partner with Pembroke Masters and Adelaide University at SA, national and Head of the Yarra masters events.
