Limerick Boat Club rows on the River Shannon from Wellesley Pier beside Sarsfield Bridge in Limerick City. Its published address is Wellesley Pier, Sarsfield Bridge, Limerick City, V94 E2X0.

The club was established at a meeting in the Limerick Athenaeum on 3 February 1870. Its first annual report recorded a boathouse and ten boats, and the club founded Limerick Regatta in the same year.

Limerick Boat Club became one of the dominant Irish crews over the following two decades. In 1927 its senior eight won the Irish Championship at Cork Regatta, defeating neighbouring Athlunkard by half a length.

After activity declined in the early 2000s, the club became dormant. Storm Darwin removed the boathouse roof in February 2014; the club re-affiliated to Rowing Ireland and reopened in 2016, installed a new roof frame in 2020 and began roof construction in November 2021.

The present club mainly focuses on recreational rowing, with occasional races against neighbouring clubs. It welcomes beginners and experienced rowers and runs three-session taster and six-session learn-to-row courses through the year.

The club's history is recorded in two anniversary publications. Tony Tynne's On Wellesley Pier was printed in 2021 after decades of collecting photographs, cuttings and memorabilia, while Life After Darwin was produced for the club's 150th anniversary.
