University of Limerick Rowing Club is based at the UL Boathouse on the university campus in Limerick. The boathouse stands beside the River Shannon and was designed with a launch jetty, pontoon and powered indoor rowing tank.

The club recruits complete beginners as well as experienced rowers. Its current novice sessions at the boathouse introduce rowing skills, technique and safety, while the club constitution describes a six-week learn-to-row programme.

After learn-to-row, members can enter a mixed beginner squad or a mixed competitive squad covering club, intermediate and senior grades. The constitution also allows alumni and non-UL students to join and states that no member is obliged to enter a squad.

UL won nine national championships in 2023, making it the most successful club at that year's Irish Championships. The women's victories included the senior eight, senior four, senior quad, intermediate eight and intermediate four.

The men's 2023 titles came in the senior double, lightweight single, intermediate single and PR2 single. At the University Championships, the novice women's quad also won its event.

The club has competed beyond Ireland, with its university page recording novice and newcomer success at the London Metropolitan Regatta. Niamh Coffey represented UL in the lightweight single at the European Under-23 Championships, winning her heat and later the B final.

UL's own events programme has included a 5-kilometre Paddy's Run fundraiser, with one third of each entry directed to the Shalom Centre for Conflict Resolution. Its 2024-25 recruitment programme opened the boathouse for trial sessions before formal training began.
