About this club
AB Severn Rowing Club is a junior club based at Mythe Bridge in Tewkesbury. Its members train from private access to the River Severn, and the club describes itself as focused on helping young people train and compete.
The club caters primarily for school-age rowers, normally from around Year 7 until members leave for university at 18. It welcomes beginners as well as experienced athletes and says participation is open regardless of ability or experience.
Water sessions use the club's fleet, with circuit training and rowing-machine sessions also offered. Membership includes structured coaching, flexible booking and opportunities to race, while parents can contribute as coaches and volunteers. Sessions are usually arranged around crews, take about two hours and include at least an hour on the water.
Competition is central to the programme, although members are not required to race. The club enters local, regional and national events, and its own member account names racing at Eton Dorney, the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham and Henley among the opportunities offered.
At the 2024 National Schools' Regatta, AB Severn won the girls' J16 double sculls in 7:40.79. British Rowing's published result places the crew ahead of Sir William Perkins's School and City of Bristol in the final.
