Burton Leander Rowing Club is based on the River Trent at Stapenhill in Burton-on-Trent. Its own account traces rowing in Burton to 1848, and the club has about seven kilometres of rowable water from its Stapenhill Road base.

The club history records a series of competitive landmarks. Burton Leander won the Wyfold Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in 1958, and a composite crew involving the club won the Fawley Challenge Cup in 1993. Published championship records also credit Burton crews with British titles in 1985, 1994, 1999 and 2006.

Its current programme is divided into junior, club, performance and recreational rowing. Juniors can start from age 11, while adults new to the sport can enter through Learn to Row or Go Row Indoor sessions.

The performance squad targets races including the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta, British Rowing Club Championships, British Rowing Masters Championships and Henley Masters Regatta. Club rowing provides a route for members who want structured training without the same competitive commitment.

Recreational sessions offer coached social rowing, and members can also use indoor training provision. The club publishes separate membership categories and fees for juniors, students, adults, recreational rowers, coxes and social members.

Burton Leander also helps stage Burton Regatta with neighbouring Trent Rowing Club. The event is held over the second weekend in July and includes racing for juniors, seniors and masters.
