Burway Rowing Club rows on the River Thames between Laleham and Chertsey from Thames Side, Laleham. Membership is open to beginners, experienced rowers and masters.

The club began as Staines Town Rowing Club in 1921 and first rowed from Church Island. It moved to Egham in 1935, relocated to Laleham in 1946 and adopted the Burway name in 1948 for the local Burway Reach.

Burway Regatta began in 1948, the first Burway Head followed in 1953, and the club entered Henley Royal Regatta for the first time in 1956. After losing its premises in 1976, it secured land near Laleham Park and began work on another boathouse in November 1979.

Adult and junior learn-to-row courses run throughout the year for people aged 12 and over. The courses cover technique, equipment, boat handling, crew rowing and water safety, with boat and land-based sessions.

Learners can progress to racing or casual membership. Current subscriptions include adult, junior, student and social membership, with use of club boats and training equipment included for rowing members.

Burway's record includes British junior titles in 1988, 1990, 1997, 2003 and 2008. The club also names Tom Barras, who began rowing at Burway as a junior and later represented Great Britain, among the athletes it developed.

The club continues to run a Small Boats Head and compete around the country. In March 2026 a Burway crew finished fourth in the special mixed category at the centenary Head of the River Race.
