About this club
St George's College Boat Club is the rowing club of St George's College, Weybridge. It rows on the River Thames from Sunbury Lane in Walton-on-Thames, beside Walton Rowing Club, and is affiliated to British Rowing under the code SGC.
The wider school is based on Weybridge Road in Addlestone. Its sports service continues to list rowing, while national and local race records show boys' and girls' crews competing from J14 to Championship level.
St George's has produced British champions in sculls, pairs, fours and eights. Its national titles include J16 doubles in 1981, a J18 coxed pair in 1984, J16 coxed pair and four in 1985, J18 double and eight in 1986, and further junior titles in 1988, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1998, 2002 and 2009.
The school won the National Schools' Regatta Championship Eight in 2013. At the 2022 regatta, its Championship Coxed Four challenged Pangbourne throughout the final and finished with silver.
In 2025 St George's added the British junior men's coxless-four title. Its National Schools entries that year included J14 octuples, J15 fours and eights, Championship singles and a Championship girls' coxed four; both a J15 boys' four and a J15 girls' eight reached A finals.
The programme remains active at major events. A St George's eight raced Shiplake in the 2025 Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup, and club crews appeared in the 2026 Schools' Head, Marlow Regatta and Henley Women's Regatta records.
