Cardiff City Rowing Club is based on Jim Driscoll Way in Grangetown, Cardiff. It rows on the River Taff with access to Cardiff Bay and supports senior, masters and recreational athletes across sweep rowing and sculling.
The club was formed in 2004 by a small group of former Welsh rowers who wanted to use the barraged Taff. It began at Cardiff Bay Yacht Club with a performance focus and an emphasis on small boats.
Cardiff City moved to Channel View Leisure Centre in 2013. In 2016 it formed a partnership with Cardiff and Vale Schools Rowing Academy to support junior development in Cardiff and the surrounding area.
The masters squad accepts rowers aged 27 and over for recreational through to local, national and international masters racing. The senior squad serves experienced and returning rowers, while Channel View's staged Learn to Row courses take complete beginners from indoor technique and basic crew sculling to handling a racing single.
Membership categories cover full senior, student, temporary, associate and non-rowing supporters. Members use club equipment and facilities, and visiting rowers can apply for weekly, monthly or quarterly access.
The club organises spring and autumn Head of the Taff races and launched Cardiff City Sprint in 2026. Its event archive provides draws and results from Head of the Taff editions from 2020 through 2026, with separate divisions used at recent events.
