Clydesdale Amateur Rowing Club rows on the River Clyde from the West Boathouse at Glasgow Green. It welcomes newcomers and returners across several squads.

Clydesdale treats 1857 as its official formation year, while acknowledging evidence of activity in 1856. It began as Clydesdale Gentlemen Amateur Rowing Club under founder James Henry Roger, whose obituary also credits him as stroke of the club's Cronies crew when it won Scotland's first eight-oared race in 1869.

The club moved from an earlier South York Street site to the West Boathouse, completed in 1905 for Clydesdale and Clyde Rowing Club. Clydesdale's history says it has used the building continuously since then, including when the boathouse served as a barrage-balloon squadron headquarters during the Second World War.

Current membership routes comprise junior, senior, masters and social squads, plus a supporters' category. Senior rowers can train for local, national and international racing; masters compete from local regattas through to the Scottish Championships and World Masters, while the social group offers more flexible rowing.

Learn-to-row programmes serve young people aged 11 and over and adults aged 18 and over. The adult course provides three indoor and three water sessions over three weeks, followed by a novice crew and potential progression to senior or recreational rowing.

The club's history records men's and women's Scottish and British championship wins, international victories and an Atlantic crossing. Current senior competition examples include the Head of the River races, Henley Women's and Henley Royal Regattas and events in Italy and the Netherlands; several athletes each year also trial for Scotland's Home International team.

Clydesdale runs an eights and fours head, a regatta, a corporate regatta and its Scullers Head. Introduced in 1967 for singles, the Scullers Head added a doubles division in 2007 and now races both over four kilometres on the Clyde.
