Henley Rowing Club rows on the River Thames from Wargrave Road, Henley-on-Thames. Its homepage gives 1839 as its founding year, while its detailed history says the club is thought to have formed in 1830, so the exact date is uncertain.

The club took part in the first Henley Regatta in 1839 and won the Town Challenge Cup in a boat called The Wave. It won that cup 23 times before 1884.

Henley United Rowing Club, founded in 1886 for working men and youths, amalgamated with Henley Rowing Club in 1946. Later development of the current site added a separate gym and new changing rooms, completed in 2011.

The club reports more than 350 members and accepts beginners and experienced rowers. It offers adult and junior learn-to-row courses, private tuition, indoor rowing for adults, and a junior division.

The 2026 adult beginner course covers gym work, water sessions, rowing machines, boat handling and equipment, with a competency test before club membership. Junior courses and summer camps cater for ages 11 to 16 and move from rowing machines and larger crew boats towards smaller boats.

Henley's senior racing history includes the 2005 Thames Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. Its juniors won the Fawley Challenge Cup in composite crews in 2003 and 2007 and the inaugural Junior Women's Quad Sculls event in 2012.

The club runs the Henley Sculls Head and Henley Fours and Eights Heads. Its current schools programme, supported by the Henley Royal Regatta Charitable Trust, provides indoor and on-water coaching with local state schools.
