Hereford Rowing Club is based at 37 Greyfriars Avenue on the River Wye in Hereford. It welcomes rowers of all ages and abilities, including beginners, and makes its parking, camping, boat-loading and function facilities available by arrangement.

The first Hereford Regatta was held in 1859. The rowing club itself was created at the Saracen's Head Inn on 26 June 1861. A boathouse for eights and the present clubhouse were built on the original site during the 1950s.

Current entry points include Learn to Row and full club membership, with specific fundraising support for the under-16 section. The clubhouse and grounds also support visiting crews and events through camping, parking and boat-loading provision.

Hereford won the Britannia Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in 1971 and recorded a national championship crew in 2010. The club's senior men's eight returned to the Thames Challenge Cup at Henley in 2025 for the first time in 24 years and also won at the British Rowing Club Championships.

The club's J14 coxed quadruple scull won the 2025 British Rowing Club Championships and set a course record. Those senior and junior achievements led to Hereford being shortlisted for Club of the Year in the 2025 British Rowing Awards.

Hereford City Regatta remains the club's principal home event on the Wye. When the annual regatta was cancelled during the 2020 floods and pandemic, more than 40 club rowers and family members completed over 23 million metres of exercise in a fundraiser for the NHS and the flood-affected club.
