Hexham Rowing Club is a volunteer-run community club at Tyne Green, below Hexham Bridge on the River Tyne. It is affiliated to British Rowing and accepts members from age 12, with recreational, development, senior, masters and junior activity.

The club was created in November 1878 at a meeting in the North Eastern Hotel, attended by 70 men with another 50 intending to join. It began as Hexham Rowing and Swimming Club and has also used the Hexham Boat Club name during its history.

The original boathouse on the present site burned down in 1900. Its replacement remained in use until a new building was completed in 2001. Sweep rowing began at Hexham during the 1960s, and a recruitment drive in the 1990s supported a revival in boats and membership.

Adult Learn to Row follows the British Rowing programme through six weeks of coaching, with club boats, changing rooms and rowing machines available during the course. Graduates can progress to development sessions, then choose competitive or recreational rowing.

Hexham's historical professional scullers included Jack Dodd, winner of the 1906 Tyne Christmas Handicap, and Joseph Robinson, winner of the Hexham Christmas Handicap in 1912. Current competitive members attend regional sprint and long-distance events as well as British Masters, Henley Masters and World Masters racing.

Hexham Regatta is held in June and is the club's main fundraiser. The club describes it as a longstanding major event in North East rowing, while the earlier Christmas Handicap attracted competitors from across the British Isles.
