About this club

LEH Boat Club is Lady Eleanor Holles School's rowing programme for pupils from Year 8 through to Sixth Form. The club shares its boathouse with Hampton School, and the school says its rowers train on a flat, uninterrupted stretch of river with a large selection of racing boats.

The programme is open to pupils regardless of previous experience. Coaching combines skills training with individual support, while off-water training uses a dedicated ergometer room, a strength and conditioning suite and local rowing tanks.

LEH reports winning medals each year at the Junior National Sculling Head, Schools' Head of the River and National Schools' Regatta. It also says that crews regularly qualify for Henley Royal Regatta, pupils attend Great Britain trials each year, and rowers have represented Great Britain at the Coupe de la Jeunesse and Junior World Championships.

In June 2026 the first eight reached the Henley Women's Regatta final for the first time in 13 years. That performance also secured pre-qualification for Henley Royal Regatta, where the crew reached the quarter-finals of the Prince Philip Challenge Trophy.

Director of Rowing and LEH alumna Abby Johnston was part of the ExtraOARdinary crew that rowed the Atlantic in December 2021 and broke the cited world record by seven days. The Hampton and Holles Boat Club Association supports the programme through fundraising and a calendar that includes Hampton Small Boats Head, Hampton Head, Christmas Pudding Races, an annual dinner and a summer barbecue.
