Tawe Phoenix Boat Club is the official alumni boat club for Swansea University. It links former rowers with current members of Swansea University Rowing Club rather than operating as a separate student squad.
The club was founded in 2010. Its membership is open to former Swansea University rowers, coaches and supporters who want to retain a connection with SURC and with each other.
Tawe Phoenix's stated objectives are to support SURC, raise money for the university club and organise self-funded rowing events for alumni. The university club says this financial support contributes to new boats and equipment.
The alumni club also provides a social link across generations of Swansea rowers. SURC directs alumni towards Tawe Phoenix around events such as the Welsh Varsity meal.
Tawe Phoenix does not have a permanent boating base. Its current web presence is a dedicated alumni page within the Swansea University Rowing Club site, which provides the contact route for prospective members and supporters.
