About this club

Austin Rowing Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit on Lady Bird Lake, in the middle of downtown Austin. Its boathouse is on Trinity Street and it is open seven days a week.

The club's mission is to foster an inclusive community around the benefits of rowing and paddling, with equitable access to Austin's waterways and quality programmes for people of all backgrounds and abilities. Unusually for a rowing club, paddling sits alongside rowing as a full part of what it offers.

Rowing programmes run for all levels and ages, from introductory clinics through junior and masters squads. The junior competitive team races at national level, travels to regattas across the country, and has sent rowers on to top college programmes.

The club publishes a diversity and inclusion policy stating that it offers membership and services to everyone, and does not discriminate on membership applications, election to office or any club activity on the basis of race, colour, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or military status.

A club running rowing and paddling programmes seven days a week, across introductory clinics, juniors and masters, is managing a lot of moving parts: session scheduling, boat allocation across two disciplines, and membership across very different groups of people.
