About this club

Greater Houston Rowing Club is a non-profit organisation founded in 1988 to promote rowing across the greater Houston area. It rows from Creek Bend Drive in Sugar Land, on Oyster Creek.

The way in is a Learn to Row session, after which rowers can move into a recreational programme open to anyone who has completed the class and wants to keep going without racing.

The club ties its rowing to its stretch of water rather than treating it as a backdrop. Alongside introducing people to the sport it supports Oyster Creek and Sugar Land through the annual US Rowing Learn to Row Days, the Keep Sugar Land Beautiful cleanup and other local events.

It is also moving into adaptive rowing, partnering with another non-profit to provide the equipment and a venue for adaptive athletes in the area.
