Berri Rowing Club was established in 1921 as Berri and Barmera developed after the First World War. Its clubrooms are at 29 Draper Road, Berri, downstream of Berri Bridge, with boats launched directly onto the river from the club grounds.

The club marked its centenary in October 2021 with about 80 past and present rowers, families and guests. The South Australian Premier and Olympic champion Alexander Hill attended, while a published club account says the current clubrooms had opened in 1982.

The boatshed has survived several floods and narrowly avoided inundation during the 2023 flood, which the club describes as the second-highest on record. Its riverside lawns are hired for weddings, christenings and family celebrations.

Membership is open to competitive and social rowers, with separate family and non-rowing social categories. Members can use club boats and equipment after demonstrating competence, and the club offers opportunities to learn rowing and enter Rowing SA events.

Alexander Hill first tried rowing at Berri through a school come-and-try program. He later won Olympic silver at Rio 2016, gold at Tokyo 2020 and world titles in 2017 and 2018; at the 2021 centenary, the club named a four the Alexander Hill Tokyo.

Berri hosts the Riverland Regatta and Rowing SA 2nd Grade State Championships every other year, alternating with Renmark. For the 2025 event, club members and volunteers catered about 1,500 breakfasts and lunches on each day and assisted with timing, bow numbers, race calls and safety boats; the club won Berri Barmera Council's 2024 Community Event of the Year award for hosting the 2023 edition.
