About this club

Christchurch Boys' High School Rowing trains on Kerrs Reach in Christchurch and has an association with Canterbury Rowing Club. The squad of 60 or more rowers is coached by external coaches, assisted by a parent-led committee.

Rowing is open to Year 9 students only in Term 4, and Year 13 students do not row in Term 4 of their final year. Crews race at a range of regattas each season, building to the Maadi Cup, the national secondary schools championship held in March.

The school first won the Maadi Cup in 2019. At the 2024 Maadi Regatta it was one of only two schools with a crew in every eights A final. The 2024/25 squad was the largest in the programme's history, toured Brisbane with two senior eights, won the under 18 four and under 17 eight at the South Island Secondary Schools Championships, and took bronze in the under 15 eight at the 2025 Maadi Regatta.
