About this club

Christ's College Rowing Club is the rowing programme of Christ's College in Christchurch, with crews training at Kerrs Reach and at other venues across Canterbury. When in Christchurch, rowers bike from the school to Kerrs Reach each training day, and the squad also trains at the Selwyn River, Lake Hood and Twizel.

Rowing is a summer sport for the boys, run in Terms 1 and 4, with training Monday to Thursday and on Saturday. Year 9 students can take up rowing in Term 4 but not in Term 1. Parents of rowers are expected to help run the club, including transporting equipment, preparing meals and supervising camps.

The school races at club, inter-school and national regattas, with the Maadi Cup as the highlight of the season. At the 2026 Maadi Regatta the novice under 18 eight and novice under 18 four both won gold. In 2025 a record 15 crews made A or B finals at the Maadi Regatta, winning one gold and four bronze. In March 2026 crews won 10 medals at the South Island Secondary School Rowing Championships on Lake Ruataniwha.
