Cure Boating Club rows on the Kaiapoi and Waimakariri Rivers in Kaiapoi, North Canterbury. Its clubrooms and boat shed sit beside the river on Raven Quay in the centre of town, downstream from the Williams Street Bridge, and members also row on the Waimakariri Estuary.
Established in 1868, the club is one of the oldest rowing clubs in New Zealand. It was set up to "cure" the fierce rivalry between the professional Kaiapoi river rowing crews that met for high-profile races in the early 1860s.
The club runs programmes for age-group, club and masters rowers, plus a 12-week Sunday learn to row programme. Competitive rowers race at Rowing New Zealand regattas from September to the end of March, while masters rowers follow a winter season programme. Affiliated schools are Rangiora High School, Kaiapoi High School and Rangiora New Life.
Within the last ten years the club has produced five New Zealand representatives in lightweight, junior and under 23 squads, and one Olympian. It has been rebuilding its facilities after the 2010 and 2011 Canterbury earthquakes, with support from the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust and Waimakariri District Council.
