Darfield, Canterbury
Trains at the Lower Selwyn Huts with Selwyn Rowing for Darfield High School students.
About this club
Darfield High School rowers train at the Lower Selwyn Huts in Canterbury as part of Selwyn Rowing. The school introduced rowing in 2024, and its programme led to the setting up of Selwyn Rowing, which also takes in students from Lincoln High School, Rolleston College and Ellesmere College.
In the first season in 2024, rowing was open to Year 8 to 13 students, with training twice a week and a January training camp at the Lower Selwyn Huts. The school was affiliated to the Avon Rowing Club that season, and the programme started from scratch with no coaches, boats, gear or storage.
Darfield made its Maadi Regatta debut at Lake Ruataniwha, Twizel in 2026 with three athletes.
