St Bede's Rowing, the rowing programme of St Bede's College, a Catholic boys' school in Christchurch, trains on the Waimakariri River from the Avon Rowing Club shed at Stewarts Gully.
The programme takes new rowers from all year groups, not only Year 9, citing its reputation in the novice eight at the Maadi Cup regatta. It also recruits coxswains, who at secondary school level are generally around 55 kg or less. The racing calendar includes the Otago Rowing Championships, the Canterbury and South Island club championships, the South Island Secondary School Championships and the Maadi Cup regatta.
St Bede's won the Maadi Cup in 1992 and 2023. At the 2026 Maadi regatta on Lake Ruataniwha its crews won the boys' under 17 coxed eight and the boys' under 17 coxed four, and took bronze in the Maadi Cup race.
