Union Rowing Club rows from Kerr's Reach in Christchurch, with its address on Kerrs Road, Wainoni. Established in 1864, it is one of the oldest sports clubs in Canterbury and a member club of the Canterbury Rowing Association.
The club has large Masters squads for women and men aged 27 and over, rowing year-round in sweep oar and sculling boats, with recreational rowing and structured competitive training. Masters crews race at South Island and New Zealand Masters regattas and have represented the club at World Masters events and Australian regattas.
Junior rowers aged 13 to 18, usually from schools that do not offer rowing, can race for the club in age group events at Rowing New Zealand regattas. The club runs a six-week Masters Learn to Row course.
Union has been involved in adaptive rowing since 2009, when it ran a two-year pilot programme. Adaptive sessions are held on Tuesday evenings, and the equipment includes a wide-hulled four. The club also has a Kaiapoi arm.
