About this club

Glasgow Academy Boat Club is The Glasgow Academy's rowing club and is affiliated to Scottish Rowing, which currently lists it as The Glasgow Academy RC. The programme has used the River Clyde and the Glasgow Schools East Boathouse at Glasgow Green for weekend rowing, with weekday training at the school.

The school treats rowing as a performance sport. The recorded programme includes the National Schools' Regatta, British Rowing championships and Henley Royal Regatta.

The club's national championship honours include junior titles in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2024. Those wins span singles, doubles, pairs, coxless fours and coxed quadruple sculls.

A Glasgow Academy junior women's quadruple scull qualified for the Diamond Jubilee Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in 2021. Scottish Rowing later named The Glasgow Academy RC junior women's four as its 2021-22 Crew of the Year.

The club's published record includes 22 international medals, two of them at World Championships. Storm damage in 2025 left Glasgow Academy, Glasgow University and Glasgow Scullers without their East Boathouse facilities, so the former Glasgow Green base should not be treated as a verified current operating address.
