Kingston Rowing Club is based at Canbury Boathouse on the non-tidal River Thames in Kingston upon Thames. It was established in 1858, one year after the first Kingston Regatta recorded by the current club.

The club began at Messenger's Boathouse in 1858, moved to Raven's Ait after three years and remained there until 1935. It then moved to Albany Boathouse before settling in purpose-built facilities at Canbury Gardens in 1968.

Current rowing covers juniors, seniors, development, novices, masters and recreational members. Junior learn-to-row and competitive squads serve ages 13 to 18, while adult beginners must complete a learn-to-row course before joining.

The boathouse holds racing shells and training boats for competitive and recreational use. Kingston also provides coaching and facilities for Kingston Students Rowing Club, whose roots lie in Kingston Polytechnic Boat Club, founded in 1972.

Kingston reports success at British championships and Henley Royal Regatta and says it has produced international-level rowers. Its squads train for local, national and international regattas at different levels of commitment.

The club helps organise Kingston Regatta, held since 1857, and hosts Kingston Small Boats Head and Kingston Head of the River Race. The small-boats-head slug is therefore event-related; the address is Canbury Boathouse, Lower Ham Road, Kingston upon Thames, KT2 5AU.
