The Lincoln Rowing Centre - Lincoln | UK Rowing Clubs | Row HQ

The Lincoln Rowing Centre is an active sport club based on Spa Road in Lincoln and affiliated to British Rowing. Its members train indoors and on the River Witham, with provision for adult, junior and University of Lincoln rowers.

The centre's start date is reported inconsistently. Its own website identifies 2006, while its Concept2 team page says 2007; the operating company was incorporated in 2009. British Rowing reported in September 2009 that the centre had restored a club presence after an absence of more than 80 years.

That British Rowing account credits Bruce Margetts with bringing the RAF, the university and members of the former Gainsborough Rowing Club into the centre. It also records him leading the first Lincoln Head and managing a £60,000 project for the club property and landing stages.

The centre supports competitive training and recreational outings. Its stated structure includes Lincoln Adult Rowers, Lincoln Junior Rowers and the separate University of Lincoln Rowing Club.

A 2025 British Rowing report documents a newer pathway with Lincoln Minster School. Pupils moved from indoor rowing into weekly learn-to-row sessions on the Witham with coaches from the centre and university, then gained their first opportunities to race for the school and club.

Lincoln Head remains part of the centre's competition activity: a 2023 report records Lincoln crews racing visiting clubs over 3,500 metres on the Witham. British Rowing's current affiliated-club list and 2025 race documentation both identify Lincoln Rowing Centre as an active club.
