Pengwern Boat Club is a community rowing club on the River Severn at Kingsland in Shrewsbury. Founded in 1871, it adopted the name Pengwern from the ancient name associated with a post-Roman settlement in the Shrewsbury area.

The club built its clubhouse in 1881, and the building is now Grade II listed. Pengwern became a Community Interest Company and Community Amateur Sports Club in 2024, with surpluses reinvested in rowing and related community activity.

Adult members and juniors aged 12 and over can row recreationally or train for competition. The programme includes junior, senior, masters, adaptive and development pathways, with coaching, rowing and sculling boats, a gym, ergometers and winter circuit sessions.

The club changed its constitution in the early 1970s to admit women. It also maintains links with Royal Shrewsbury School Boat Club and provides rowing facilities for Harper Adams University. Recorded British titles include composite women's double-scull wins in 1984 and 1986.

Pengwern has hosted Shrewsbury Regatta since 1871. The 2026 event ran more than 400 races over two days under British Rowing rules and included junior, senior, masters and mixed-eight competition.

The club also offers beginner development and supports new coxes with training for recreational and racing crews. Its current accessibility campaign is raising funds for a lift so adaptive rowers can reach the first-floor club facilities independently.
