The Windsor Boys' School Boat Club is a state comprehensive school club based on the River Thames beside the school's playing fields. It was founded in 1940 by members of Eton Excelsior Rowing Club, and had moved into its present boathouse by the end of the 1950s.
The programme introduces boys in Year 9 through a capsize drill, swim test and sculling. Development continues through Years 9 and 10, with racing in summer, before training and performance targets increase from Year 11 into the sixth form.
The club also runs summer learn-to-row camps and middle-school clubs for girls and boys. Its coaching team is led by Mark Wilkinson, a former pupil and Henley winner who has also led Great Britain under-19 men's sculling.
Windsor won Henley Royal Regatta's Fawley Challenge Cup in 2017, defended it in 2018 and won again in 2022. It topped the national medal table in 2022 and 2023, then won the Year 11 and Championship quadruple sculls at the 2024 National Schools' Regatta and the Fawley Challenge Cup again at Henley.
The club's international record includes World Championship silver medals for Bryn Ellery and Tom Smith in 2017 and 2018, Marcus Chute's European single sculls title in 2022, and seven boys selected for Great Britain in 2024, three of them for the World Rowing Under-19 Championships.
