Riverside Rowing Club was founded in Adelaide in 1943. Its history records three names: South Australian Railways Institute Rowing Club from 1943, Australian National Railways Institute Rowing Club from 1977, and Riverside Rowing Club from 1994.

The club has a strong masters focus for rowers aged 27 and over and maintains links with senior and school rowing. It supports elite, masters and recreational participation, and club members help newcomers develop rowing skills.

Riverside operates from the River Torrens and West Lakes. The Torrens site has a boatshed, clubroom and bar, gym equipment and change rooms, while the West Lakes shed gives members access to South Australia's main regatta venue.

The West Lakes fleet includes eights, quads and fours, doubles and pairs, and single sculls. Members can book boats through the club website.

The club adopted the motto Possent Quia Posse Videntum, translated on its site as 'They won because they thought they could', in 1977. It also maintains a Hall of Fame for rowers, coaches, administrators and other members who have brought recognition to rowing.

Riverside's Hall of Fame names include Bob Bradley, Brian Hannaford, Elaine Guterres, Gordana Kalanj, Norm Talbot and Stan Goldsworthy. The club also has reciprocal arrangements with rowing clubs in Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia and New South Wales.
