About this club

Lady Elizabeth Boat Club is a current Rowing Ireland club in Dublin. Dublin University Boat Club describes it as its alumni club, supporting the university programme and maintaining social links between past and present members.

The club was established by at least 1929. Trinity College Library holds a printed set of Lady Elizabeth Boat Club rules from that year, and the surviving document names the honorary treasurer in correspondence with Dublin University Boat Club.

Lady Elizabeth remains active in competition. Mark Quigley won the Club 1x title at the 2023 Irish Championships after earlier single-scull victories at Trinity Regatta and Dublin Metropolitan Regatta.

The club has also raced at Henley Royal Regatta. Its eight finished runner-up to Henley Rowing Club in the 2005 Thames Challenge Cup, while a Lady Elizabeth four contested the Wyfold Challenge Cup in 2016.

Members help run Trinity Regatta as well as race. Lady Elizabeth representatives held chair, treasurer, safety and overseas-coordination roles on the 2022 and 2024 committees, and the club supplied the treasurer for the 2026 regatta committee.
