Counties Manukau Rowing Club rows on the Waikato River at Mercer, from clubrooms on Riverbank Road. Most training takes place after school and at weekends, and the club does not have to contend with tidal water.
The club caters for club, school, novice and masters rowers aged 27 and over, with capacity for about 50 rowers. School members currently come from Rosehill College, ACG Strathallan and St Cuthberts College.
Club regattas run from October to January, with selected crews racing at the New Zealand Rowing Championships in February, and school crews continue to the Maadi Cup in March or April. From May to September crews row at Mercer at weekends, with land and ergometer sessions during the week.
Crews race sculling and sweep boats from singles to eights at regattas on Lake Pupuke, the Waikato River at Mercer, Lake Karapiro and Lake Ruataniwha. Membership fees include camps, meals and lodge accommodation across the season.
