Nelson Rowing Club rows on the Haven, the stretch of water inside the Boulder Bank at Nelson, from its base at Cross Quay in Port Nelson. Members also row along the Nelson coastline and on lakes and waterways further afield.
The club caters for rowers from their teens to retirement, with sculling, sweep rowing, coastal boats and beach sprints. Its College programme takes students from Nelson College, Nelson College for Girls, Waimea College, Nayland College and Garin College, and college crews travel to Blenheim, Twizel and Cambridge to race.
Masters rowing covers learn to row, recreational and competitive rowers. Sunday morning is club day, and training camps are held at Lake Rotoroa, where the club has a facility for members. Learn to row courses run for college students and for adults.
The club is run by a volunteer committee of seven.
