Tauhara College rowers train and race as part of Taupo Rowing Club on Lake Taupō, alongside students from Taupō-Nui-A-Tia College. Depending on the regatta, they race either for Tauhara College or for Taupo Rowing Club, and the club's youth rowers use its training facilities at the Sea Scout Ship close to town.
New rowers start in April or September through free Learn to Row programmes. Spring is mainly for learning and training, summer is the regatta season, and training eases off over the colder months when rowers often focus on other sports. The squad also goes to weekend camps with other clubs.
At the 2026 Maadi Regatta the college entered boys' and girls' single sculls, boys' double sculls at under 17 and under 18 level, and a boys' under 17 pair.
